I'd suspected my husband was having an affair with his secretary for months, but I bided my time. Then an unexpected doctor's visit turned the tables on them all.

As I walked through the lobby, I saw Ryan and Amber coming out of an ultrasound room, his hand on her waist. It was like a punch to the gut, but I held my ground. Amber went pale when she saw me, her eyes wide with fear.

But Ryan tried to act calm, like he had nothing to hide. "Lisa," Ryan said, stepping in front of her. "This isn't what it seems." Dr. Davis walked out into the hallway. She saw me and then looked at Ryan with a shocked expression. "Your wife hasn't told you?"

Dr. Davis asked, adjusting her stethoscope. Ryan's face got tense. "Told me what?" The doctor handed him a sealed report. Ryan quickly opened it and his eyes froze on the page.

The report showed that Ryan had a medical condition that made him unable to have children, something we'd discovered through multiple tests years ago. Amber leaned on the wall for support, her face losing all its color. "That can't be true,"

Ryan whispered, his voice shaking. "Yes, it can," I said calmly. "Her pregnancy is real, but the baby isn't yours." Amber started to tremble, and Ryan looked from her belly to me, his face red with humiliation.

I smiled because I knew this was just the start of my plan. And they had no idea I'd already found out who the real father was.

Ryan dragged Amber to the parking lot, yelling at her to tell him the truth. I just walked past them without a second look.

That evening, he came home fuming. "You set this up," Ryan said, throwing the report on the dining table. "You wanted to make me look bad." "I arranged for your medical tests five years ago," I replied, putting my keys down. "Fate did the rest today."

He poured himself a drink with a shaky hand. "Amber says the baby is mine." "Then she should argue with science," I said. His face got hard. "I want a divorce." I slid a pen towards him. "Great idea." My calm response scared him more than if I'd cried.

Within two days, Ryan filed for divorce, demanded the house, and tried to kick me off the board of Horizon Ads. Amber came back to work wearing an engagement ring, telling everyone she'd soon be the new Mrs. Thompson.

They thought they had everything under control. Their overconfidence made my job easier. They never questioned why I stopped arguing, why my lawyer started showing up at company meetings, or why the bank required two signatures for large transfers.

My investigators dug deep and found out that Amber was having an affair with Jake Cooper, the head of sales at Horizon Ads and Ryan's so-called best friend. The financial evidence was damning.

Hotel security footage showed them in compromising positions, and deleted emails revealed that they'd been inflating client bills. They were funneling the extra money through dummy companies, and they planned to blame me for the losses.

They thought they were so smart, but I had been one step ahead all along.

I presented all the evidence at the divorce hearing. Ryan and Amber were both stunned. Their faces went pale as the judge looked through the documents. The judge ruled in my favor.

I kept the house, my shares in the company, and Ryan was left with nothing but his shame. Amber was fired from the company, and she was also facing potential legal charges for fraud. And I finally found the peace I'd been waiting for.

I could move on with my life, free from the shadow of betrayal.
