Leo stood in the jewelry boutique, holding the diamond bracelet he wanted to buy for Olivia Green. He swiped his main Rachel corporate card, but it was declined. Confusion washed over him.
He tried again, thinking it was a simple glitch. But once more, the card was rejected. He frowned, starting to feel a twinge of irritation.
Two minutes later, he took out his second card. With a bit more force, he swiped it. Still, the machine beeped with a decline.
“What’s going on?” he muttered to himself. His irritation was quickly turning into annoyance.
He called Ava Stone right away. “You can’t freeze my business cards in the middle of the day,” he said, his voice rising.
When she didn’t answer, he left a voicemail, accusing her of interfering with company operations.
He paced around the boutique, trying to think of a solution. His mind was racing as he made another call to Ava.
“This is ridiculous! I need these cards for the business,” he shouted into the phone when it went to voicemail again.

He kept calling Ava, hoping she would pick up and fix this mess. But each unanswered call only made his panic worse.

Preparing for the Separation
Ava stood in the silent living room, looking at Leo's possessions filling the space. She took a deep breath and decided it was time to take action.
She reached for her phone and called her attorney, Sophia. The phone rang twice, and then Sophia answered.
“Something's happened,” Ava said. “Leo texted me asking for a divorce.”
“How convenient for him to leave a paper trail,” Sophia replied. “Does he say why?”
“He claims he's found someone else,” Ava told her. “I've already restricted his access to my accounts.”
“Good. Send me the text and all the account confirmations,” Sophia instructed. “Don't move anything else tonight.”
“I want his stuff out of here,” Ava said, looking down the hallway to their bedroom.
“We can handle that properly. Inventory everything with building staff and have a witness,” Sophia advised.
Ava knew Sophia understood her well. She didn't need to ask if Ava was upset.
Early the next morning, two building employees and a rep from Sophia's firm arrived to help.
They started packing Leo's clothes, personal records, awards, and electronics into labeled containers.
Photographs were carefully wrapped in tissue, and his suits were left on hangers.
The boxes were then moved to a secure storage room in the building. And Sophia's office sent Leo instructions on how to collect them.
The Attorney's Call
Two days after the events, Ava's office phone rang. The caller introduced himself as Jackson Hill, Leo's divorce attorney, with a booming, confident voice.
“Mrs. Rachel, my client says you've unlawfully denied him access to marital and business funds,” Jackson asserted.
Ava calmly replied, “My professional name is Ava Stone. Rachel is my company's name.”
Jackson continued, “Regardless, you've put my client in an impossible financial situation.”
“I ended discretionary spending by my company,” Ava stated firmly.
Jackson retorted, “You froze his credit cards!” Ava quickly shot back, “They belong to my company.”
He then accused. “You emptied a joint bank account.” Ava explained. “I transferred only my funds. Left enough for household needs. My attorney has the records.”
Jackson warned. “I advise you to restore access. We seek emergency relief.” Ava. Standing by the window. Countered. “Julian you reviewed Nora's ownership structure?”.
Jackson said, “My client is the founder and CEO.” Ava pressed, “That's a title. Julian you really reviewed the structure?”
She further asked. “Julian you examined the vendor agreement between Nora. Elena Capital?” Jackson admitted. “I haven't received all the documents.”.
Ava continued, “Julian you reviewed Elena Capital's operating agreement?” Jackson mentioned, “The prenuptial agreement?”
Ava pointed out. “So you're threatening legal action based on what Leo told you.” Jackson insisted. “My client has substantial rights.”.
Ava declared, “I'm sending you three documents. They prove my points.” Some of Jackson's force faded as she detailed the reasons for her actions.
Standing Firm
Ava Stone sat at her desk, her expression firm as she thought about Jackson Hill's threats. She was not one to be intimidated easily.
She knew she had the right on her side. She believed in her actions and was determined to prove that she had done nothing wrong.
Ava took a deep breath and began to gather the relevant documents. She wanted to make sure everything was in order.
She carefully printed out the first document. Which confirmed that Elena Capital was created three years. Her marriage.
Then she retrieved the second one. Establishing that she owned 100% of the company. Had sole authority over discretionary expenses.
The last document was Nora's vendor - development agreement, which allowed termination after a material breach.
Ava double - checked all the papers, making sure they were clear and easy to understand.
She logged into the secure email system and prepared to send the three documents to Jackson's inbox.
As she hit the send button, she felt a sense of relief. She had taken the necessary step to defend her actions.
Ava knew that Jackson might still try to argue. But she was ready for any challenge he might present.
